Intracoronary OCT is a new imaging technology that allows physicians to see the structure of the arteries of the heart with unprecedented detail. This capability can potentially be used to better identify coronary plaque buildup that places patients at risk for heart attacks and to evaluate stents that are placed to keep the arteries open.

The mission of The International Working Group for Intracoronary OCT Standardization and Validation is the widespread adoption of intracoronary OCT to improve health and quality of life.
